OUR HISTORY
Founded way back in 1908, the Virginia Football Club stands proudly as one of the original members of the Adelaide Plains Football League (APFL).
From humble beginnings, our club made its mark early — between 1908 and 1957, Virginia appeared in 12 Grand Finals across several leagues, bringing home 8 senior premierships.
In 1958, Virginia joined forces with the Two Wells Football Club, competing in both the Central Districts Football Association (CDFA) and the APFL. Then, in 1974, the Virginia Football Club proudly re-formed, returning to the CDFA — and it didn’t take long to find success again!
Over the years, we’ve celebrated many triumphs, including:
🏆 Division 1 Premierships: 1979, 1984 (GDFL), 1989, 1993
🏆 Division 2 Premierships: 1990, 1991, 1992
In 1995, Virginia was invited back into the Adelaide Plains Football League, and the 1996 season marked an exciting new chapter — the debut of our first ever netball teams!
Since then, we’ve continued to grow stronger together, achieving:
✨ A Grade Premierships: 1998, 2015
✨ Reserves Premierships: 1996, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017
✨ Senior Colt Premierships: 1998, 2000, 2021
✨ Junior Premierships: 1997, 1998, 2018, 2025
Today, the Virginia Football & Netball Club is more than just a team — we’re a family built on tradition, teamwork, and community pride. Over a century of hard work, heart, and hometown spirit has shaped who we are today — and the future looks brighter than ever!
The possibilities ahead are endless — and this is just the beginning of the next exciting chapter for the Virginia Football & Netball Club.
A New Era
Our senior footballers faced a challenging year on the field in 2025, but the team showed strong commitment and continued to build towards the future. With a focus on development, leadership and culture, we’re excited to say that several key signings are already locked in for 2026, setting the tone for an exciting year ahead.
Our senior colts had an outstanding season, making it through to the finals, while our junior colts went all the way and brought home the flag - a reward for their hard work and dedication!
We also reached a major milestone in 2025, with our first-ever SANFL Juniors teams in under-10s and Under 12 divisions. Our under-12s had an incredible year, making it all the way to the Grand Final. Although they didn’t get the win this time, they showed true Rams spirit and are already fired up for the 2026 season!
Our netballers also had an amazing season, with 5 teams making it through to the Grand Finals and three taking home Premiership wins - Including our back-to-back A6s champions!
